The European Union Intellectual Property Office has announced the opening of the “SME Fund 2026”, a fund aimed at supporting SMEs in the protection of their industrial and intellectual property rights by partially reimbursing the costs associated with the registration of these rights.
The application period will be open from February 2, 2026 through December 4, 2026, or until the appropriation is exhausted.
Small and medium-sized enterprises established in the European Union and Ukraine are eligible for this assistance.
The application may be submitted by the owner of the company, an employee or a duly authorized external representative. Companies that have been beneficiaries in previous editions may reapply in 2026.
The aid is articulated through different vouchers for activities related to the protection of industrial and intellectual property, among which are included:
Trademark and design registration
National and European patent applications
Intellectual Property Pre-diagnosis Services (IP Scan)
Grants are awarded in the form of vouchers to claim reimbursement of costs, with the following maximum amounts:
Trademark or design voucher: up to 700 euros
National patent voucher and prior art search: up to 1,000 euros
Voucher for European patents and legal costs: up to 2,500 euros
The program saves up to 75% on IPR applications and up to 90% on IP pre-diagnosis services, depending on the country or region.
