The objective of the call for proposals Science and Innovation Missions 2026 is to finance cooperative R&D projects, led by companies, that respond to major strategic challenges for Spanish society. The aid seeks to promote collaboration between companies and research organizations, strengthen the technological capacity of the business sector and promote innovative solutions in key areas.
The application period will begin on May 12, 2026, and end on June 12, 2026, at 12:00 noon, Spanish time.
Groupings formed by a minimum of three and a maximum of six companies may apply for the aid. At least two of them must be autonomous among themselves and at least one company with SME status must participate.
Companies must be validly incorporated, have legal personality and have their registered office in Spain or, in the case of companies with tax domicile in the European Union, have an establishment or branch in Spanish territory.
The grouping will not have its own legal personality; therefore, one of the participating companies will act as coordinator or representative before the CDTI.
Projects must fall within one of the missions selected for the 2026 call for proposals:
The projects must be multiannual, have a duration of 3 or 4 years and start on January 1, 2027. They must also have an eligible budget of between €3,500,000 and €10,000,000, with a minimum of €175,000 per company.
It will also be mandatory that at least 40% of the eligible budget corresponds to industrial research activities and that at least 15% of the total eligible budget is subcontracted to research organizations.
The call has a total budget of 60,000,000 euros.
The aid will be granted in the form of a subsidy. The maximum aid intensity may reach 65 % for large enterprises, 75 % for medium-sized enterprises and 80 % for small enterprises.
The specific amount of each grant will depend on the eligible cost of the project, the characteristics of each beneficiary and budgetary availability.
Of the total budget, at least 20,000,000 euros will be reserved for proposals for the mission related to the aeronautics sector and at least 5,000,000 euros for proposals for the mission on women’s health.
