For the machinery and capital goods sectors, the advantages focus on the elimination of tariff costs, the reduction of technical duplication and operational facilities for after-sales service. <\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-47d08a0c elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"47d08a0c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5><strong>Tariff Elimination and Market Access<\/strong><\/h5><p>The most immediate benefit is the elimination of customs duties on industrial exports:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Machinery and capital goods:<\/strong> Tariffs currently up to <strong>5%<\/strong> will be eliminated.<\/li><li><strong>Electrical and electronic equipment:<\/strong> Will benefit from the general elimination of tariffs for almost <strong>100% of EU exports of goods<\/strong> at the end of the transition periods.<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">_<\/span><br><strong>97.6%<\/strong> of EU industrial goods exports will be tariff-free from day one, while for the rest they will be eliminated over a transition period of up to <strong>5 years.<\/strong><\/p><h5><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">_<\/span><br>Technical Barriers Simplification (TBT)<\/strong><\/h5><p>The agreement introduces measures so that companies do not have to adapt their designs or repeat costly tests for the Australian market:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Supplier&#8217;s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC):<\/strong> Australia will accept that the manufacturer itself certifies that its products comply with standards in critical areas such as <strong>machinery<\/strong> safety (except for high-risk machinery), <strong>electrical and electronic equipment<\/strong> safety or <strong>energy efficiency and eco-design<\/strong> requirements.<\/li><li><strong>Certification at origin:<\/strong> For those industrial products that are not covered by the Supplier&#8217;s Declaration of Conformity, companies may have their conformity assessments carried out by recognized bodies <strong>within the EU<\/strong> to demonstrate compliance with Australian technical regulations, including those of their States and Territories.<\/li><li><strong>Use of international standards:<\/strong> Both parties commit to using international standards (such as ISO or IEC) as the basis for their regulations, which avoids divergent technical requirements that act as hidden trade barriers.<\/li><\/ul><h5><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">_<\/span><br>After Sales Service and Operations Facilities<\/strong><\/h5><p>For the capital goods industry, maintenance is a crucial part of the business:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Repaired Goods:<\/strong> No duties will be applied to goods re-entering the territory after having been temporarily exported for <strong>repair<\/strong>, nor to goods temporarily imported for repair in Australia.<\/li><li><strong>Temporary Admission of Tools:<\/strong> Total exemption from customs duties is granted for the temporary importation of <strong>professional equipment<\/strong>, hand tools, measuring and control devices, and molds or dies necessary for manufacturing processes or specific tasks.<\/li><\/ul><h5><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">_<\/span><br>Public Procurement and Professional Mobility<\/strong><\/h5><ul><li><strong>Access to tenders:<\/strong> EU industrial companies will be able to bid on government contracts on an equal footing with local ones, gaining access to some <strong>60 new entities<\/strong> at the federal and state level in Australia.<\/li><li><strong>Engineers and technicians:<\/strong> To facilitate the installation and maintenance of complex machinery, the agreement establishes entry quotas of <strong>1,000 trainee engineers per year<\/strong> for EU citizens.<\/li><\/ul><h5><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">_<\/span><br>Next steps for entry into force<\/strong><\/h5><p>After conclusion, the agreement must follow a series of legal procedures before it becomes fully effective: publication of texts, approval by the Council, formal signature, consent of the European Parliament and ratification by the Council and Australia.<\/p><p>
